Learn practical skills in scar massage and self-care to help improve outcomes after any surgery or injury. This comprehensive course will enable you to have a variety of practical techniques to help people with scars looking for optimal care after a recent surgery or injury or wanting to reduce common complications such as pain, limited movement and much more. Includes basic theory and research links, scar massage and fascial techniques, cupping for scars, intraoral scar treatment, taster session of kinesiology tape for scars. Includes online pre-course learning, live Zoom lessons and two days in-person with a case study requirement.
Course Content:

Specialised scar massage and fascial scar techniques

Cupping negative pressure scar treatment

Active and passive scar stretch methods
-
Intraoral scar treatment for facial injury or surgery

Kinesiology taping for scar adhesions
What to Bring:

2 medium/large towels and 1 hand towel (and couch cover if you have one)

Lunch (although there is a Sainsburys about 2 minutes walk from the clinic)

Comfortable clothing (and shorts)
Assessment & Coursework:
-
Self-Paced Theory: Allow 4-5 hours to complete your online theory learning. This will be available from 4 weeks prior to your in-person course or once full payment has been made, whichever is the later

In-Person: Observation and feedback over the 2 days

Case Studies: Document treatments with clients who have had recent or historic scar after any surgery or injury (two treatments per client, total four treatments)

Students must be 18 years or older (no maximum age!)
