Designed specifically for manual and movement therapists, this course teaches practical, effective acupuncture techniques to treat common musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries.You’ll learn how to integrate acupuncture into your clinical practice with confidence—enhancing recovery, reducing pain, and improving mobility in your clients. Ideal for sports massage therapists, physiotherapists, osteopaths, and other bodywork professionals, this CPD-accredited training balances traditional Chinese medicine theory with extensive hands-on practice. Bernard Nolan brings decades of clinical experience and a clear, safe, and accessible teaching style that makes learning acupuncture practical and relevant. Held in Nottingham, this course attracts therapists from across the UK looking to expand their treatment toolkit and offer more effective care for injury and pain conditions. Whether you're new to needling or looking to refine your skills, this 4-day intensive gives you the confidence to start using acupuncture immediately in a sports and clinical setting.

Course Content:

  • Safety techniques, ethics & hygiene

  • Shiatsu techniques & meridians

  • Sports injuries covered: shin splints, knee conditions, sciatica, ankle problems, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, back conditions, groin problems, plantar fasciitis, headaches, frozen shoulder, muscle and tendon strain and many more

  • Point location needling

  • Deep needling

  • Planning a treatment to combine acupuncture with massage

What to Bring:

  • 1 large towel, 1 small towel (and a couch cover if you have one) 

  • Lunch (although there is a Sainsburys about 2 minutes walk from the clinic)

  • Comfy clothing (and shorts)

Assessment & Coursework:

  • Observations & feedback during the session

  • One case study (5 treatments) to be written up and sent to the course tutor within 5 weeks of the course. You will then receive your certificate which will enable you to get indemnity insurance.

Pre-Requisites:

  • Students must be 18 years or older (no maximum age!)

  • Level 3 Sports or Body Massage qualification
