- Anatomy Café: Ankle & Foot
Whether you’re a student therapist, newly qualified, or years into practice, anatomy is one of those things that always benefits from revisiting. That’s exactly why Anatomy Café was created — a relaxed, friendly space to learn, refresh, revise, and build confidence without the pressure of a classroom environment. This Anatomy Café session focuses on the ankle joint — an area that therapists work with regularly, yet one that can often feel surprisingly complex when it comes to remembering structures, movements, and common injuries. Together, we’ll explore: Bony landmarks of the ankle and foot Key muscles and tendons Joint structures and ligaments Actions and movements Common injuries and conditions Functional anatomy in a practical, easy-to-understand way The session is designed to be interactive, informal, and welcoming, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, discuss real-life cases, and revisit anatomy at your own pace. And because learning is always better with coffee and cake… there’ll also be homemade cake, good coffee, and a relaxed atmosphere where therapists can connect, chat, and enjoy the process of learning together. No stress. No exams. Just anatomy, conversation, confidence-building, and cake. Whether you want to refresh forgotten knowledge, strengthen your understanding for clinical work, or simply enjoy learning alongside like-minded therapists, Anatomy Café is the perfect place to do it.

The Anatomy Café is a relaxed, friendly way to learn anatomy without the pressure of a formal classroom setting. Set in an informal café-style environment, students explore bony landmarks, muscles, actions, common conditions, and case studies through discussion, palpation, and hands-on learning. - The Biggest Mistakes
Hi, Can I share something honestly? Most new massage therapists don’t struggle because they lack passion. They struggle because no one clearly explains: How to transition from training to real clients How to handle self-doubt in early sessions How to structure treatments confidently How to avoid burnout and injury How to actually grow a client base I see these challenges every year in students and early-career therapists. That’s exactly why I wrote my upcoming book. One of the 42 chapters is called “From Certificate to Confidence” — and it’s all about navigating those first steps with clarity instead of guesswork. In the next email, I’ll reveal the cover and release date. If you’re at the beginning of your massage journey — or supporting others who are — you’ll want to see this. In the next blog i will be releasing the title and a few more chapters....... See you soon, Clare

This book is the guide I wish I’d had. It covers: The real early challenges of becoming a therapist How to develop hands-on skill with confidence Avoiding common career mistakes Building a sustainable path in massage I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes updates over the next few weeks, including a cover reveal and release date. If you’re a student, a new therapist, or even experienced and curious — this one’s for you. More soon 🙂 Clare Riddell Pressure Point
- Unleash Your Skills: Mastering Level 4 Sports Massage Techniques and Body Assessment for Maximum Results!
When it comes to delivering great sports massage, Level 4 is the course. As a massage therapist, enhancing your skills can dramatically affect your clients' performance, recovery, and overall well-being. In this post, we will explore critical Level 4 sports massage techniques and delve into essential aspects of body assessment, joint analysis, and anatomy. Get ready to optimise your practice and provide the best service. The Power of Level 4 Sports Massage Level 4 sports massage moves beyond muscle relaxation. This advanced therapy uses soft tissue release, connective tissue work, trigger points and muscle energy techniques to target muscles, tendons, and fascia to improve range of movement and reduce pain. By mastering these techniques, you not only relieve tension but also address specific problem areas and aid muscle imbalances. Deep tissue massage can reduce muscle soreness and improve range of motion by aiding relaxation of the tissue. A solid understanding of the anatomical structures you are working with is essential for making your sessions more focused and effective. Body Assessment: A Therapist's Tool Central to Level 4 sports massage is a comprehensive body assessment. This process involves examining your client’s posture, identifying asymmetries, and recognising tight or weak muscle groups. By assessing posture accurately, you gain valuable insights that shape your treatment plan. Analysing Joints and Range of Movement Joint analysis is crucial in sports massage therapy. Assessing your client’s range of movement helps identify restrictions or hypermobility. This evaluation process goes beyond physical examination; it involves understanding how joints interact during movement. Techniques like joint mobility tests can help gauge the functional range of motion for each joint. For example, the shoulder flexion test allows you to evaluate the flexibility of the shoulder joint. By recognising limitations, you can customise your massage sessions to enhance flexibility and encourage overall joint health. Research shows that improving joint mobility can boost athletic performance by up to 15% in specific sports. Postural Assessment Anatomy: The Foundation of Effective Massage A well-rounded knowledge of anatomy is the cornerstone of effective Level 4 sports massage. By understanding muscles, their origins, insertions, and functions, you can apply focused techniques that produce significant results. Familiarise yourself with muscle groups and their biomechanics to sharpen your assessment skills. For instance, knowing that the quadriceps support the knee joint can help you target tension in the area. A detailed understanding of anatomy not only increases your confidence during sessions but also enables you to explain clients' conditions effectively. Elevating Your Practice In summary, mastering Level 4 sports massage and enhancing your body assessment skills are vital steps toward becoming an outstanding therapist. By understanding anatomy deeply, assessing joints effectively, and analysing posture, you can elevate your practice. Clients will not only notice improvements in their recovery and performance but will also appreciate the personalised care you offer. So, embrace these techniques and observations; they are essential for unlocking your full potential in the world of sports massage therapy! Now is the time to unleash your skills and elevate your practice to new heights!
